Today have been celebrated in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University the kick of meeting of Baqua project.
This European project, with six European entities and 1.6M€ of budget, have the main objective of revalorise the waste and sub products of Canary Island banana cultivation. Fibres and proteins will be extracted from it, developing additives (to reinforce bioplastics) and fish feed.
Tecnopackaging role will be to incorporate the fibers to biobased and biodegradable film, with the aim of develop a reinforced and more sustainable product, following circular economy methodology. This film will be used to fabricate packaging for fish feed and protective bags fot the banana tree.
TECNOPACKAGING
Tecnopackaging is a technology-based company focused on advanced polymeric materials and their processing to obtain industrial plastic parts and packaging. One of its main innovative lines in production with matrices that come from biomass. Active biobased and biodegradable products are, at present, developing patentable.
The LIFE Programme
This project have been cofounded by the LIFE Programme, which is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value.
